This collection consists of posters, digital images, and a video file from the Keep Families Together (also referred to as Families Belong Together) protest held in McAllen, Texas on June 30, 2018. These protests were part nationwide event organized to demand the Trump administration reunite families separated at the U.S.-Mexico border. This local protest was organized by Jose Oscar Lopez and Sara Vann.

Footprints in the sands of Zapata County Collection
The collection contains 10 life histories (with authorization forms) of individuals from Zapata County. Life histories were collected by the Zapata County Historical Commission and compiled by Colonel Robert W. Fish. Files include life histories, "Four Generation Ancestor Chart," photocopies of photographs, awards, and news clippings associated with each individual.

Land application form filled out by Jose Luis Chirino for new citizens of the Republic of Texas. Chirino had to swear that he was a citizen of Texas at the date of independence, did not leave the State or refuse to participate in the revolution, and did not give assistance to the enemy. Chirino applied for 1/3 of a league of land in Nacogdoches County.
Republic of Texas Document, Sale of Enslaved Persons, 1839
Documentation of the sale of enslaved persons in Washington County, Texas, May 3, 1839. Sale was for eleven enslaved peopel aged two - thirty years old and was for eleven thousand dollars. Enslaved persons were sold to Ann H. P. Noble by O. B. Howard and Jane E. Howard, and witnessed by F. W. Hubert, A. M. Logan, and M. McKinnon. Ms. Noble also bought three mules, twenty head of cattle, and two yoke of oxen for five hundred dollars.

The papers were created during Rubén Hinojosa's time as an elected official in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1997 - 2016, representing the 15th Congressional District in South Texas. The collection consists of legislative material as well as casework of local projects and issues.
