These protests were part nationwide event organized to demand the Trump administration reunite families separated at the U.S.-Mexico border. This local protest was organized by Jose Oscar Lopez and Sara Vann.

Life histories were collected by the Zapata County Historical Commission and compiled by Colonel Robert W. Fish. Documentation of the sale of enslaved persons in Washington County, Texas, May 3, 1839. Sale was for eleven enslaved peopel aged two - thirty years old and was for eleven thousand dollars. Enslaved persons were sold to Ann H. P. Noble by O. B. Howard and Jane E. Howard, and witnessed by F. W. Hubert, A. M. Logan, and M. McKinnon. Ms. Noble also bought three mules, twenty head of cattle, and two yoke of oxen for five hundred dollars.
