Scope and Contents
The collection, part of the UTB/TSC University Archives - Institutional Advancement Division, contains commencement programs, audio/visual recordings, booklets, newsletters, promotional material, and event programs that preserve the institutional memory of UTB/TSC, UTPAB and PAUB.

Conditions Governing Access
Materials in our collections may be protected by copyright. The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley assumes no responsibility.

The collection is arranged into two series; Series I: Events and celebrations and Series II: Media services. There is also born-digital material within Series II.

Mission
The mission of the Office of News and Information is to promote the university, the faculty, staff and students via internal and external communication. By serving as a liaison between the campus, the region and the news media and collaborating with departments, our team provides direction, expertise and services through media relations, news releases, video news releases, web and photography to reinforce the mission and goals of the university.
