American Rio Grande Land and Irrigation Company Collection

The American Rio Grande Land And Irrigation Company was established in 1900 by Benjamin Franklin Yoakum. The company purchased lands from the Llano Grande and La Feria grants, their office was in Mercedes, Texas. The company sold farmland and provided irrigation to those lands, including the Capisallo District.   The papers included the collection are primarily from the latter years of the company when the controlling stock was held by Harry L. Seay and Charles Linz, and the papers from the Hidalgo and Cameron Counties Water and Control District No. 9.

The bulk of the collection consists of abstracts, financial and business files, and files concerning various lots of land.
