Republic of Texas Document, Sale of Enslaved Persons, 1839
Content Description
Documentation of the sale of enslaved persons in Washington County, Texas, May 3, 1839. Sale was for eleven enslaved peopel aged two - thirty years old and was for eleven thousand dollars. Enslaved persons were sold to Ann H. P. Noble by O. B. Howard and Jane E. Howard, and witnessed by F. W. Hubert, A. M. Logan, and M. McKinnon. Ms. Noble also bought three mules, twenty head of cattle, and two yoke of oxen for five hundred dollars.

I this day bargain sell + deliver to Ann H P Noble a leven negroes Emmanuel Thirty years old Rheubin Twenty years old, Tehyler Twenty years old, Claborn Eighteen years Old, Ambers Thirty years old, George Two years old Phillis Twenty Eight years Old Tharlote Eighteen years Old Jane Fourteen years old Mary Thirteen years old Precilla Twenty five years old. Said signed I warrant to be sound in boddy + mind + slaves for life For said negroes I have this day Received of said Ann H P Noble Eleven Thousand Dollars in payment.
