Scope and Contents

Born in 1920 in La Grulla, Starr County, Texas and recorded on 12 April 1987. Josefina talks about growing up on ranchos and access to education. She explains how she did not attend school until age 11 because as the oldest child she was expected to help with her younger sisters. She taught herself English.

Interview conducted in Spanish by Francisca Rodriguez. Digital transfer completed on 25 September 2013 from the original analog cassette tape. Poor quality recording.
